The oldest written mention of Blovice was recorded in 1284: but the turning point in its history occurred at the beginning of the l5th century. At that time. a large meeting of people took place on Bzi, a nearby hill. This meeting was led by Vaclav Koranda senior. Apparently, the Cistercian Monastery was burned down and heathen feudal lords became the keepers of Blovice in 1420. The ruins are connected with many legends and tales from the time of the Thirty Years' War and the Hussite period. In 1450, a peace treaty between Strakonice and Podebrady (represented by Jiri of Podebrad) was signed here. The distinguished writer Krystof Harant ofzdruzic stayed at the castle before the Thirty Years' War began. Numerous newly repaired churches in Zdar, Zdemyslice, Zakava and Nezvestice are worth visiting, particularly the one in Zdar.
